its not a whammy its a vibrato tailpiece, its not like what youd think, you cant really do dive bomb with them( if you do you loose tunning horribly) you cant really raise a pitch either, if you pull up the spring just kinda pops out and the noise really isnt impressive, its more for like bluesy vibrato, i hardly notice them when i play a guitar with a bigsby to be honest

Just leave it on there, it may be adding sustain to the guitar as it's such a big chunk of metal.

I'd leave it there. If you don't use it, then it's jsut like if the guitar had a stop tailpiece. It won't affect the feel fo the guitar in anyway.
