OK guys, not sure what is the proper way to set up my rig.
I love my Line6 POD XT Live for modeling but it sounds like sh!t on my Fender Pro 185.
I am probably hooking it up wrong.
I want to bypass the Fender's preamp so I should use the effects loop-correct??
My effects loop has what is called "preAmp Out" and "PowerAmp in".
I assume from the POD I would go out from the "Output to Amp" jack and into the effects loop.
Which one do I plug the POD into?? It seems like it would be the "preAmp" one, but that is also an OUT.
Isnt the "poweramp" in more for if I want to boost the power with lets say a Crate powerblock??

Help please

Your preamp out is for sending your fender's preamp signal into an external power amp/mixer/recorder/whatever. The power amp in is for sending a signal directly into your fender's poweramp, thus bypassing the fender's preamp. You got those 2 mixed up
The gear is in the profile.
You know you want to take a look

OK, so in theory I do not need a power amp such as a Crate Powerblock because all it would do is the add volume power which I get enough just from the Fender Amp?

I would never want to run a powerblock or a head into a combo amp right????

To clarify the last question:
I am trying to keep the POD and use the Fender combo amp just for the speakers.
Is this ridiculous??
Should I just buy a Crate Powerblock and a cabinet and sell the Fender?

Have you not got a send return on the back of your amp? If not, then you dont have an FX loop.
Main Gear:

Santiago S3 Spanish Classical
PRS CE22 Mahogany
Mesa/Boogie F-50 combo w/ G12K-100
Teese RMC Wizard Wah
Rothwell Switchblade
Ibanez FL-9

I will look on the back, but the front says "effects loop" with a bracket inclosing the Preamp out and the power amp in with a level (-16dBv, -7dBv & +4dBv) and gain offset switch(-9dB - +9dB)

your preamp out is your "send" and your poweramp in is your "return"

You want to go:

Preamp out > input of pedal

Output of pedal > Poweramp in.

If you want to use the Fenders speaker with the Powerblock as poweramp and POD as preamp you have to somehow disconnect the speaker from the amp.. you can't just run an amp directly into another amp. So yes, you should buy a cab for the powerblock then

But if your fender is loud enough for what you want to use it for you could also just hook everything up like this:
guitar-->POD input and then POD output--> Fender Power Amp in
this way you'll bypass the fenders preamp
The gear is in the profile.
