Is it a blank DVD?
I don't know if you know, but there are different types of DVD disc's, and different types of drives. You have to get compatable discs for the type of drive you have.
That's all I know. Regarding re-writing and burning anyway. If it's a movie DVD you're trying to play, then I have no idea. =/

Have you put the CD in, or is it definately still in the box? ^_~

Have you checked My Computer, or are you merely expecting a pop-up?

Is the disc compatible with your specs?

Did it work before?
