So I went to change my old pickguard loaded with everything which looks like this.
and like this.

So I put the new pickguard from a MIM 07 strat. I had this in.

so this is where the grounding wire goes.

and the two for the output jack.

But then a 4th wire that was non existent in my squire strat...
What the hell is it for, where does it go, and can it work without it, since the squire doesnt have one and worked.

picture's too blurry, cant see what the **** that is

edit: where does it come from?

it comes from the volume pot, the same pot, coincidentally the same one as the other wires come out of.

It's another ground. I believe it's attatcheched to a screw somewhere to ground the cavity, if it's sheilded. But I din't see any sheilding, so just leave it.

Sorry, I gave you the wrong information. You'll want to either remove the wire, or solder that little clip thing somewhere. If you leave it floating around, it could make contact with something it shouldn't, and ground your entire signal.
