So I was in a music center awhile back playing different guitars. I had already bought a Mexican strat from there that sounds friggen awesome. I compared it to the $1000+ American strats (about 4 or 5 of them) and for some reason they all sounded like crap (to me). They had similar sounds but as always no 2 sounded alike. Did I get lucky and find a good guitar or do the American ones just for some reason sound different?

I went to this one shop, and they had Fender MIA's brand new with scratches all over them! I've never seen that in another shop, so maybe it's just how your shop handles their guitars. Maybe you didn't have the pickups properly adjusted on the guitars you tried.

Good for you. Have a cookie.

But really... there's no cookie. And if there was, you wouldn't get one.
