Hi,

My Laney Vc15 doesn't have a standby switch like most over tube amps, so how do I safely turn the amp on and off without damaging the tubes.

There's not too much chance of you damaging the tubes
The only use of a standby switch is to warm the tubes up before playing and also to discharge the tubes before switching off [so they're not still full of electrons and dangerous if you take em out]

And at that wattage, you wont damage anything else

Thank you very much.

I also have another question when i turn on and turn off my amp i get a very strange feedback sound when nothing is plugged in, is that normal.

Like a humming?
Yeah that's normal usually - if it's high pitched squealling though it could be your tubes going microphonic but im not to clued up on what that exactly sounds like to be honest

too save your tubes just keep your guitar volume at 0 for 30 seconds...and the feedback might be normal...does it do it with the guitar plugged in, because if it doesn't i dont think its too bad....

While i am playing i sometimes get that weird feedback like when i start the amp but it not as loud, is that because the tubes are microphonic

I would say turn it on, leave the volume at 0 for about a min, then turn it up and play.

In that one min that its warming, you can tune your guitar, plug in, warm up your fingers....etc.
When you turn it off, just put the volumes at 0 and flick it off.
