Anyone know any good jazzy metal bands? I've checked out Opeth, Cynic, Athiest, Ephel Duath, Behold...The Arctopus and Dysrythmia. Know any other good ones?

Alright, I'll give them a try, Japanese Black Speed rarely disappoints.

Hmm judging from your pic you'd fit in more with a fat busted tribute.
Well can we turn this into a discussion regarding jazz-influenced metal?

I can't get a hold of any Behold...the Arctopus albums but I've seen some youtube vids and it seems like some really cool stuff.

And am I the only one that can't stand Ephel Duath because of the "yelling" vocals? I can't stand yelling, but I can do just about everything else.

Never heard Dysrythmia before...
Behold...The Arctopus has an album on iTunes, if you need that. Dysrythmia is more heavily influenced by post-rock, and has the Warr guitarist from B...TA playing bass. Yeah, I think Ephel Duath would be better without the screaming.

Long time no see dude.. Welcome Back
I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed.
other than the ones you mentioned, all the jazzy metal bands i know are prog-based. two good ones are planet x (kinda jazzy) and liquid tension experiment.
Gordian Knot and Aghora were both spawned from Cynic, I'm not sure that the latter are that jazzy but both are incredible. Gordian Knot are all instrumental and more taste than shred. Aghora are an Asian/Indian themed band with female vocals, their 1st album's better than their 2nd. Lets see....Diablo Swing Orchestra are definitely cool and different.

Alarum and Martyr are both Atheist inspired bands. And from what little Iv'e heard Canvas Solaris seems like another decent instrumental band.

I actually like Ephel Duath's vocals, I don't think typical growls work over jazz metal.

Yeah I dig Spiral Architect, never bothered to listen to Pestilence though - I guess I had already pinned them as generic older DM, but I'd better give them a listen now.
