i'm working on a strat body project guitar, and it's come time to choose the pickups.

i've already picked a Lace Sensor Silver for the Neck, but i need a Humbucker for the Bridge.

i want a sound like Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Soundgarden

something with a considerable amount of gain.

tunings i use are standard and open D minor

~Thanks

i guess some kind of a PAF. maybe the Vintage '59s from i forgot which company. but i know they're really cheap and pretty decent.

or look at Seymour Duncan Slash pickups. its clean low output, that u need to overdrive ur amp with "the" amp. not help from ur pickup.

but i say the PAFs.

haha that's it!!! GFS that little company making really inexpensive nice pickups on guitarfetish.com hahaha yea.

i was saying he should have a lower output pickup, and overdrive the amp after the preamp. unlike people with high output pickups that use those to overdrive the preamp as well. but that's just blues talk. metalheads go for the high output crazy insane pickups lol.

Cause I am just a blues guy. Haha.
But I mean, some people look for pickups, expecting the pickups to just be...distorted. Which isn't how it should be, ya know? Yeah, hotter pickups like EMGs make it easier to overdrive the amp...but if you have enough headroom, you shouldn't edxperience a super early breakup. (I guess unless you're using the Windsor..or something.)

my thoughts are DiMarzio Evolution
Duncan Custom Custom
Duncan Custom
Duncan Full Shred
EMG HZ4
GFS Woodtone
GFS Loudmouth

The Custom Custom will have more clarity than the Custom, though I think both would cover your grunge needs.
I wouldn't get the Evolution, and I'd look into the Vintage '59's. Probably the best humbucker GFS has.

yep. Vintage '59s. don't get the clearance pickups on GuitarFetish.com though. they aren't GFS, and they're cheap, and they're not that great. my friend got them, not that great.
