I should probably start off saying, I know absolutely nothing about theory (I know about the sticky but it wasn't helping me much). I know that scales are good for building strength and speed so I was wondering 5 good scales to start me off. I know the chromatic (is it the chromatic or is the more then one?), and the other two I'm not sure what the names are, something to do with the minor pentatonic I think, but they look like this:

e|-------------------------------10-12-|
B|-----------------------8-10-12-------|
G|-------------------7-9---------------|
D|-------------5-7-9-------------------|
A|---------5-7-------------------------|
E|-0-3-5-7-----------------------------|

and

e|----------------------5-8-|
B|------------------5-8-----|
G|--------------5-7---------|
D|----------5-7-------------|
A|-----5-7------------------|
E|-5-8----------------------|

If you could tell me about those or give links to an explanation of it (it would probably save you a lot of typing) it'd be appreciated.

Sorry for so many questions, the more info given the more it will help since I'm so new to this...

EDIT: Also, if there are any links to lessons or other sites that will explain why these are what they are and how they apply (although that is probably asking to much for one post so don't worry about it if it's a hassle).

those are both pentatonics

the first one just encompasses more of the fretboard through certain three note per string bits

the second one is just starting on the fourth note of the scale

(forgive me if im wrong im doing this in my head)
i have a 'white guitar'

But last time I cranked my amp up. A small bird flew by at the same time I did a pinch harmonic.... and it exploded....

I think so...now that I figured out root notes and scale names go by the root note...dunno how to tell between major and minor though.

Wait, so an Emaj pentatonic would be the same as an Am pentatonic?

no. Emaj pentatonic would be C# minor pentatonic.
and A minor pentatonic would be C major pentatonic.

the first one is a slide pentatonic in E...get rid of that 7 on the 6th string (its not supposed to be there)

the second one is A minor pentatonic
