Bring back the holocaust that once was the metal forum. Too many stupid people get too much leeway. I'm sick of seeing stupid threads here. It sucks a lot becuase this place used to be a breeding ground for intelligent metal folk.

So I'm asking, can we make stricter metal forum rules? Please?
#3
I'm fairly new and I see a lot of random/unnecessary/unintelligent posts in the metal forum. How strict was it before?

Your opinion doesn't matter. You've been here less than a month.

Ah. That line.

Makes total sense, because it's impossible to view this forum without registering, correct?

Oh...

Wait a minute.

Well. Theres also alot less regulars (alot of them have since been perma-banned/left), and theres also been alot of new visitors in the metal forum. The metal forum has actually gotten stricter, if I remember right. Before, we could joke/talk about nazism, have a swastika as an avatar, make racial comments, and overall it was a little less strict. Don't you guys remember when the metal forum was shut down for a while, and greety then posted the new rules? It used to be alot more lenient, and has since gotten more polished. We still have a ways to go to really take care of everything, but so far I think its going well... The most common problems we in the metal forum have is that there are alot of people who do not pay attention to the sticky talking about what bands aren't metal/don't belong here, and also for kids asking for tabs/tunings/etc. These kinds of things can be easily taken care of:

-Report the Thread
-Tell the Threadstarter what his mistake was, so he can (hopefully) learn from it.

If he doesn't learn from it, obviously he will be banned down the road and we don't have to worry anyways.

It takes all of 1 minute to do the above steps, and then its out of your hair. I don't see what's so hard with putting up with a couple of bad threads.

I thought you were here around last summer.

Back then anything that should have been in the thrash or rec thread led to an instant ban.

First posts? I think not.

I'd love to get back on topic, but as you say, "my opinion doesn't count".

It's funny because, I could have registered when I actually started visiting these forums, posted once or twice, and the gone back to lurking. And somehow, that makes my opinion valid.

Some interesting logic being thrown around these forums, there is.

Yes but we also had the metal chat (), we had people with swastika avatars, people who became regulars and tried to mess up UG/The Metal forums. It used to be very lenient, but when something happened, they cracked down hard. Now, its hard to do something wrong in the metal forum (that lasts, at least) because everyone flames the hell outta them , and a warning should suffice enough. I don't see what the point of banning a 2 week old user for posting a wrong thread is.

I'm still here, you just got a spate of threads recently. I closed em all. lol, don't be such girls.
if you have belief in ur soul and jesus you can do anything
#19
Oh give me a break...
all the **** that's happening is your fault, and your fault alone!

The mods close the threads, give out warnings, and keep it in order. we dont play favorites. if you deserve a warning/ban you'll get it, we dont care who you are.
there's only so much we can do.

how you behave it up to you.

I propose that we have a 42" HD TV and get Sky with all the channels, including the porn.

Anyway, we can never get rid of idiots/newbs, thats large online communities for you. Not to mention that more people seem more stupid cause we're older than 90% of the UG population.

Seems like it wouldn't hurt to get another mod to fill up the time zones and whatnot. But what the hell do I know. Nobody's worthy for this job.

I think stricter rules would be bad, here's why.

Stricter rules drive away n00bs who are interested in metal. When less new people are active in the metal forum, when regs start leaving (as they probably will eventually, as I've seen few people from before 05 in here) there will be nobody to replace them and the forum will become stagnate.
#25
^I disagree.

Stricter rules creates a breeding ground for intelligent conversation. New people to the genre can observe these conversations and learn what and what not to talk about before providing their opinions.

I'm not bashing the mods at all, I'm just saying when things were different, there were more intelligent regulars.

By the way, is Blizzard perma-band?

I understand what your saying, but seriously, people don't join an internet forum to observe intelligent conversation.

And Blizz is perma'd.

most stupid n00bs don't even read the rules. The smart ones who do read and follow them will be most welcome here.

Yeah for reals. What happened to HateEternal, Jhardee and S0up? All the cool people leave.

And on topic, its been worse. There are more mods now, and the noobs learn how it all works eventually so theres really no point in stricter rules. Mr. Presidents got the idea I think.

What he wants is to bring back the REALLY oldschool metal forum strictness, from a couple of years before you started visiting these forums. Morbid_death was still an admin then.
#35
I don't remember anything special about the times of the Morbid_Death regime. I know we certainly didn't talk about this Hessian nonsense.
