is an 18 watt 112 combo enough to gig
what about an 18 watt 212 combo?

what about a 36 what 112 combo
or 36 watt 212 combo

i need decent headroom
but keep in mind that these are marshall plexi clones so i would like some decent head room but also to crank them
o and the 36 watt amp has a half power switch

all are tube

the 36 watt should passable, I wouldn't gig with anything less than 50 watts tube myself, but 30 or higher can work.

Well.

The 18 watter is better for cranking. The 36 will be harder to crank. Need headroom?

Then I dunno, both are EL-84 amps and from my memory I think EL-84 seems to overdrive quite fast.

A 1987 is better if you want headroom, but you won't be able to crank it.

Are these the Weber kits we're talking about?

If the 36 has a half power switch, go for that as you'd get the option of 18w and the extended headroom of 36w, wheras with the 18w you only get that option and no more headroom.
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

ok so its decided 36 watts
but 112 or 212
obviously since for 212 i would be buying two speakers it would be more costly
so 112 or 212??
