I think that these special connectors that can allow two guitars on a single amp might do the trick.

they are called "Y" adapters...and u can get them at Radioshack. i was looking into getting one for my school's Jazz Band last year, and if i remember correctly, they are pretty cheap

Extremely cheap, though some may do trouble.

I have two, which my teacher gave to fix.

couldnt you just take a combo amp, take out the speaker wire ... build the talk box...and the connect it directly to the preamp?
