Diagnosis: Bullshit.

Video games today are what rock music was in the 80's. A scapegoat for irresponsible, ignorant parents.

Here's what I think.

People are living healthier lives, so doctors need to invent new illnesses to keep making themselves and their constituents money . Call it a Conspiracy if you want.

Yeah it's crap , Once I started playing guitar I sold all my video game crap for gear and such.
Smile alot today... okay?

I was reading this other article related to it and read this,

No, People are just getting lazier and more stupid, so people say their addicted to video games so they can collect a check every 2 weeks instead of going to work.

And docters don't care, because they're still getting paid.
Live as a man. Die as a man. Become a man.

That's the proof of your incompetence, right there.
You lack the qualifications to exercise free will.

If being fat can be a disease then why can't playing too many video games be a mental condition?

That's probably how they thought that out.

Edit: I know they put more thought into it than that, please don't get mad or something.

Exactly sir.

You know. We should do something to contradict that article. Like. Hack all the TV's in Times Square in New York and put up a little video of us denouncing the scapegoat thing (if that is even possible. ).

Fuck that, I just wanna play video games!

You know, maybe they put these articles up, expecting video-gaming kids like us to find them and read them. Like it would change anything.

ok....you only get "addicted" if you're too dumb to get off your butt and have a life, it's pure laziness, don't get me wrong i love games, but i'm alot like the pizza pocket commercials, if i get hungry or need to take a dump, i do it, i go to skool and don't sacrifice study time for games, i hate WoW, it's retarded to pay like 60 bucks a month to play the game when you can just buy warcraft 3, the ppl who are addicted are just anti social
Gear:
Jackson DKMG Dinky (EMG 81/85)
Ibanez GIO (i put a Dimbucker in the bridge)
Crate GT65 (65 watts) to be upgraded soon, suggestions welcome (must be tubed)

I read the first lines about not eating or showering, and falling grades, and I think, wtf?

Some of the smartest people I know (who eat and shower) play games, like, all the time.

Agreeing to the scapegoat comment. Its true, people just stopped caring about their kids, for the most part. In my community, I know of like, 9-year old kids playing San Andreas, that their parents got them for their birthday or something. Its rated M for a reason, and then their parents blame the game for their violent child. Seriously, they should be more responsible.

And that Ian kid mentioned, his parents should go check on him once in a while, 12 straight hours of gaming is not healthy at all.

Exactly. If I had a deficiency like that I wouldn't be able to hold a pen let alone write legibly with it. And my writing isn't even that bad.

same here. My mom tried to convince me I was addicted but i said "seriously I can stop any time" then guitar came along when I was 12 and I eventually sold it all to buy my amp. Hardly played any video games since. In your face mom, what'd i tell you.

I think the main thing they are talking about is never-ending evil video games like World Of Warcraft. That game is pure evil designed to addict you. SOO NERDY TOO!!!

My thoughts?

It's solely the responsibility of the individual. They need to know when to take a break. This article simply shows the gamers who lack the willpower. Sure, it's easier to not take a shower than to take one. This doesn't show any kind of addiction, and like the guy in the article said, there is not sufficient data to link video games to a mental condition. I know lots of people that love playing video games that do well in school and have good hygiene and good personal lives. They just have the discipline to know when to turn off their 360. And the people trying to make this out as an actual condition are full of ****, and the "poor, mentally distraught" kids in this article just lack the self-control to get off their asses and do something.

i think you can be addicted to video games just like drugs. THESE ARE THE FACTS: Playing video games easily releases happy chemicals in your brain, you can get addicted to this chemical release in your brain. It's just like people who cut themselves, they get addicted to the chemicals your brain releases when you cut yourself. Just like any drug. So there, I am not flinging bull**** at you either this is what happens.

I love how they can't blame bad parenting, no, they have to call it a fucking mental disorder. I hate the ignorance of some people today.

More proof that the American Medical Association is willing to class anything as a disorder if it can make them some money.

Psychological addiction which barely counts as addiction because it just means you like something and don't want to stop. Physiological addiction is very different and shouldn't be considered similar to Psychological addiction.

They're just making up these retarded diagnosises for fake diseases and flipping out hte perscription book and giving these kids pills for uneaxistant disorders.
Like a while ago the news had a thing about 'Porn addictions'

These parents just don't have the balls to admit they paid no attention to their kid. Kind of like Doom and Marilyn Manson was during columbine.

Turned out the harris levels werent of his school, and the kids thought Manson's music sucked.

"You could make lots of behavioral things into addictions. Why stop at video gaming?" Brody asked. Why not Blackberries, cell phones, or other irritating habits, he said.

My thoughts exactly.

You can't go through DTs and shit from not playing video games.

You may long to play them, but you're not going to go into convulsions and all that.
