Hey guys, I've been asked today to play guitar for a big school awards assembly thingy on Thursday, but I honestly don't know what sort of stuff to play.

It'll have to be exciting enough to keep people interested because it'll just be me, and not overly heavy metal or else people won't like it because the parents of students will be there as well.
Funny words.

play some classic rock. that'll keep both the parents and students entertained. Plus it should offer a cool solo that's not too metal or anything
#5
play something easy you dont wanna mess up at all so go for something with a slower solo
and if u live in the uk play a black sabbath song like war pigs or somethin
#7
i think that you should play either "nutshell" by alice in chains or "crash" by dave mathews band. either of those would be pretty good. good luck

Lol god don't play sabbath. People will get so bored sitting listening to you play the same stupid boring riffs without any backing.

Play something tasteful from Steve vai or Eric clapton, Jimi hendrix, just someone like that- stuff you can improve to. Show your talent if you have any

Half the dudes here aren't helping. Play some classic rock, don't try to impress the three metalheads in your school. Play something you can nail some emotion with, and then something slightly energetic. The dude above said Hotel California, I'd go with that on my list.

Is it this Thursday (today...)?

Cause that would be cool, seeing as everyone's still giving suggestions.

Anyway, if not... whatever you do, make sure to use a backing track!

I was gonna say play something heavy and loud cause parents don't like that stuff

Purple Haze, or Four Horsemen.
Maybe even master of puppets.
Those songs aren't THAT heavy.
