Hey!

Just got my Engl today *face falls off with excitement*.

First, the guitar porn:

^pic from the eBay auction I got it off since my camera phone sucks.

Ok... so. The clean is perfect, the leads are godly and the chugga chugga is good but not up to the levels of gargantuan rapage that the clean and lead posses.

This is to be expected as I knew it was quite a bright amp when I was buying it but the question is this...

How do I make it sound darker with more bass when playing rhythm?

EQ pedal? Or is it just voiced like this no matter what?

That's its voicing. Turn up the presence and bass and turn down the treble a bit, or your guitar's tone pot.
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

you could, i suppose, pump up the bass with an eq. but i don't know of anything right off the top of my head that makes amps darker per say....

maybe your metal muff???

An EQ would work i'd say
They can be very influential

EDIT: Oh yeah congratulations on your amp - its mad sexy!

Loving the amp nice one.
Maybe an EQ and an OD?

For the best tingle, use Original Source mint. That shit feels amazing on your balls.

I've tried messing with the EQ of course, I can get a good rhythm tone but not perfect... yet.

I use Dimarzio Ibzs so I reckon if I get a Breed, which were purposefully designed to make basswood trem guitars sound warmer and fatter. Then couple that with an EQ pedal, I could be in business.

Maybe get an ISP Decimator to kill some of the buzz and make it punchier also.

try rolling back the lead presence and treble, and increasing the bass.

EQ would be worth a look too, i'd wager.

EDIT: nice amp!
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

You have to remember it's only a 1x12 combo too, if you hook that baby up to a 4x12 it will have a lot more proverbial "chugga chugga".

Is the combo open or closed back? Might have something to do with it...
