Yeah, So I'm Looking at Amps... Hopefully I Will Be Gigging Soon, And I'm Looking for an amp that can keep up or surpass my friends Marshall MG100DFX Combo.
My Dad was willing to buy me the Marshall MG100HDFX/MG412 Slant Cab Half Stack Package Because of the Marshall Name, But most of you guys say that the MG's Are Garbage... I've Played them, and they don't sound bad, but then again, alot of you have probably had more experience than me... I Play mostly Metal, So Obviously I Need Awesome Distortion, But I Also Need Amazing Cleans... But I Really Don't Want To Spend Much More Than $500 Unless It's REALLY worth it. So, Which One(s) Will Do The Job?

EDIT: Also, I Forgot to Mention That The Amp I Currently Have Is Too Trebely... Its Not My Schecter Damien-FR is it? The Amp is a Kustom KLA-75

Peavy ValveKing 112 Combo Amp $430

Rocktron V160R Vendetta 160w 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp $460

B-52 AT-112 60-Watt 1x12" Tube Combo Amp $550

Randall RG50TC 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp $560

Also, I'm Open To Suggestions!

The peavey is the only one ive played and i like the cleans, the distortions abit weak though so you may need either an OD or a distortion pedal. Its got a bright switch aswell if it does turn out its your schecter whats too trebly.

It will kick the MGs arse though, dont get the mg dont mean to jump on the bandwagon but they are poo

You won't get amazing distortion and clean for 500$

Why? That's Not Fair...
Maybe not "Amazing" But Not Crappy... Good? Better Than My Friends Marshall? Alot Better?

Also, I Have A Boss Metal Zone... Will That sound good through a Tube Amp?

the metal zone would be the reason for the treblyness wouldn';t it?

Lol, Really? That sucks... Yeah I Used to have Death Metal Pedal, And That one had no balls... Now this ones got not enough balls... I NEED MORE BALLS... I NEED A GOOD TUBE AMP WITH BIG BRASSY BALLS!

The MT2 will make any amp sound pissweak, ditch the thing...no pedal can give a ball-less amp balls. The B-52 is probably the best bet...get a decent OD to boost it and don't forget to turn it up!

Yep, the Metal Zone adds huge amounts of treble, if planning to go tube, i suggest you toss it.

K, So the B-52, What's A Good OD Pedal To Use?

I agree that the B-52 is the best of the amps you're looking at, it'll cut thru and past your friend's MG.

How much you looking to spend on the pedal?

Oh, and the way you use capital letters really annoys me.
You Don't Need a halfstack.

You Don't Need 100W.

Probably not much more than $50, I might be able to get away with $100, but that's stretching it. Sorry about the capitals, that's just a force of habit that I need to break!

u could get lucky and get a used 5150 combo, and BLOW your friends mg away/

buy a wah wah pedal. Easier to use, and you won't have to re-tune your guitar after you use it.

The Digitech Bad Monkey gets good reviews around here as an OD on a budget. It's $40 on MF. If you get to $100, the Ibanez TS9 is a great pedal. Might be able to get the Maxon version a little cheaper.

The Metal Muff w/ Top Boost is amazing, i bought it because my amp that i just bought, a MusicMan 65' Reverb, only has one channel and i needed to be able to switch from clean to distortion. I have no complaints about that pedal at all, i find it quite amazing. Also, look around for a Musicman 65' Reverb, it's an amazing amp, 65 Watts Tube. It gets quite loud, and the clean is amazing, I've never heard a better clean.

Metal Muff is all well and good, but it's not an overdrive pedal - I doubt you'd need something like that with the B52.

Could be wrong though, but I'm pretty sure an overdrive is the way to go.

Crate Palomino, or Laney, or used Traynor, or Peavey. used 5150 would be awesome.

Check the Peavey Windsor, use your volume knob as a cleanersizer, or maybe one of those EHX switchblades or jacknifes so you can switch between high gain and low gain outputs.

yea. use the 70's mentality. when u want a clean sound, lower the volume on ur guitar, or play the guitar softer. it works

MG's are garbage. if you want a solid state, get a Crate Powerblock. if you want a Tube, get a Crate with a tube or a Krank, but do NOT get an MG. i'll never like Marshalls, and I hate MGs.

Crate's Powerblock has amazing cleans. and you hook a Fab tone or whatever distortion pedal in the effects loop, and you've got great distortion

Crate Powerblock isn't that great... no tube saturation involved, won't get my vote.
i like the creamy overdrive from tube amps.
i'm not saying solid state sucks... but i never really liked them.
