I'm not completely sure but judging from the name I'm gonna guess that the Standard plus just has better pups. I'll check.

Yes. The Plus has a contoured top, Whereas the standard doesn't.

i play mostly metal but i need some cleans too. i think the standard has contoured top too, not sure though.

i'll be putting in some duncans, if i get one.

Hm. I had the LP Standard Plus. On the headstock it said Les Paul Standard Plus Top.

here in australia its really hard to find a used gibson for under $1000 where as the epi is only 600-700

which standard? there's standard plus, standard plain top, and standard quilt top. all the standards are the same though, as far as pickups and electronics, the only difference is cosmetic.

Sorry to hear that. Here in Sweden everything is expensive. An Epi LP Standard is 850-900$ retail price. But I have found several used Gibsons for that price.

The Epis are usually thinner than most Gibson ones. At least from my experience.
