I was wondering if anyone could recommend what gauge strings I should use for Drop C. I was using my normal 9-42, but when dropped that low, they sound like ****.

I usually use 11s for drop c tuning, specifically the GHS Boomers Medium set (11-50).

you can help by hit the e down to d then leaving the rest but then GHS Boomers are an ok choise.. if not

thats what i was thinking too, I like Di'addario though.

I think 12-54's might be a lil to thick for me. i was thinking either 10's or 11's

My guitar is currently in drop-C and I use GHS TNT Boomers (10 to 52). I really like them, though the lower strings are a bit tight and aren't as easy to bend as the slimmer strings I'm used to.

at least a heavy set of 10s. 11s are best imo, 12s would be 'better' but then they behave a lot more differently

D'addario Hybrid 11-52's. I love those strings but I have been tempted away by Skull Strings. They indicate which strings to buy by which tuning you play in. I got the 11-52 and they feel great, and they regenerate the oxide layer on the strings so they have a longer life.
