#4
Avenged Sevenfold and Lamb of God (i don't know why those are the only two bands that come to my head atm.)

I'm assuming you have a 4 string. Try Mudshovel by Staind and Pure Massacre by Silverchair. Also, anything by Godsmack.
My Gear:
Godin BG V and BG IV
GK 1001RB w/ 4x10 RBH
Palatino Upright
Ibanez Talman Artcore
Godin LG
Washburn Acoustic
Godin Classical
Traynor YCV80

Trying to play Power of Equality felt like a blind date gone wrong.

I havent tried since... songs just way too beastly for the likes of me. I prefer Sir Psycho Sexy, especially the ending, and Mellowship Slinky In B Major

Linkin Park has alot of Dropped D's.

Now with my nooby imperialist attitude out of the way, I'd second the "By The Way" and maybe some Sum 41 songs?

Coheed and Cambria have some great songs in drop-D. The list includes 'Time Consumer' 'Delirium Trigger' and '21:13'. There is some debate over whether the bassline for 'Everything Evil' is played in drop-D too but check it out anyway.

The Used only play in drop-D. I'd recommend 'Take It Away' 'I'm A Fake' and 'Listening'

I'll also second Muse and Billy Talent. Good songs to try from both bands are 'Hyper Music', 'Stockholm Syndrome' and 'Plug in Baby' by Muse. For Billy Talent I'd recommend 'Where is the Line?', and 'Devil in a Midnight Mass'

Also, I'll second checking out some of Avenged Sevenfold's basslines. Surprisingly groovey and bluesey when it's not just root notes.

+A Million for Tool.

Justin Chancellor is a fantastic bassist. Schism was the first thing I taught myself to play the first night I brought my first bass guitar home, oh, six or so years ago. Not to get off topic here, but I recently saw Tool in St. Louis, and it's inspired me to pick up music again after a year-long hiatus.

Back on topic...

Tool has a lot of stuff in drop-d, esp. off of Ænima (46+Two comes to mind right away). Somebody else already mentioned Sober as well. Actually, a lot of their older stuff is in Dmin, so you can drop your E down to a D, and play around in a lower octave in Dmin. Interesting things might happen.

Also, Rammstein was mentioned a few times. +1 for their stuff. Most of it's really, really easy to play. I think the lead guitar section of Du Hast involves about three powerchords in Drop-D (seriously). Can't remember how the bass goes for that song. Check out their two newest albums, "Reise, Reise" and "Rosenrot". It's rumored that they have a new studio release coming out very soon.

Getting a little off topic again, but something every bassist should try: Seemann off of Rammstein's first album, Herzeleid, is a good workout at full speed. Definitely check it out.

All for now,

Phil

i thought i had magic fingers once, and had uncovered the fountain of love.

#30
muse have some songs in drop d. hysteria is a good one to learn.
#31
except that Hysteria isn't in drop D...

like the others said, try some Rage Against The Machine, alot of their stuff is really fun to play. A couple of Foo Fighters songs are in drop D too, have a look at them.
#34
SOAD are in drop C

Anyways..

Most of RATMs songs (to my knowlage) are in DropD
#35
Try some later Pink Floyd, mainly stuff off The Wall(Another Brick part 2, Run Like Hell). Roger Waters(who I saw live last Monday and it was awesome) uses Drop D fairly often.
