By now I've been using pentatonics and major scales which are getting boring now so how do i use them and what do i play them over?

They're broken chords. Basically, play the notes in a chord seperately.

If you want to use them in solos/melodies, just learn your chord shapes up the neck and play them like that. Most songs use arpeggios, so you've probably been playing them without realizing it. They're handy, everything from "Time of your Life" by Green Day to Yngwie Malsteen's shreddy stuff use them.
