I'm still working on that killswitch and I'm planning on doing pots. While I do the killswitch. Can't find where to get some shelac though, I might try home depot or something.

shellac is gloss/laquer coat thing... i have one i used for my pedalboard.

i'm trying to put velcro on all my pedals, and put carpet-like material on my pedalboard.

Those switches from radioshack blow, I installed one in my Agile and it clicks when you press it in. You cant get it going fast at all.

You can use SPSTs for killswitches. All you have to do is connect one side to hot and the other to ground.

Cheap amps are "that bad". They suck up your tone like cocaine at Kate Moss' party.

Not if it's a good switch.

A new pickguard perhaps?

Re-do the wiring as been said before - perhaps add a push pull pot for more pickup configurations.

I'm curious about this device.

Phase switches are cheap and easy.

If you have a tele, you can replace the 3-way switch with a 4-way switch.

Be sure to check out http://www.guitarfetish.com for parts that can be had for $20 or less. The clearance page is always cool:

http://store.guitarfetish.com/clse.html

And the hardware page:

http://store.guitarfetish.com/guitarhardware.html

Hell, they even sell pickguards for $10 or so.

You can really go to town on that site, and in a couple days have plenty of cool parts to put on your guitar.

As for other cheap mods.... pots, push-pull pots (used for various combinations/tone/zero load tone/etc...)

homemade preamp such as this one: http://www.till.com/articles/GuitarPreamp/ (which I have built and it sounds great, by the way)

you could drill holes through your guitar and tie barbed wire around your guitar. then you could selitape cats to it and glue it to your ceiling via a piece of string then sell it to the modern art musium for millions. then you can buy a new guitar and mod it withe more than $20

Get on it, man.. don't know if there's much money in it... but a museum probably would want that.

It's stereo amp, and I don't think it's tube. However, for a stereo amp, it is very good. Don't plug guitar into it; just use it as hi-fi if it works.

Knobs are good....Especially on older guitars like mine, which have dirty, nasty smelling old plastic knobs, which should definetly be replaced by metal knobs.

Black Ice

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Components:_Black_Ice_overdrive.html

Only dont pay $30 for it, go buy two diodes and wire them like this:

(Picture from projectguitar.com)

It will cost under £1, and it sounds cool

If your clever, you can work out how you wire a DPDT switch to bypass it and make the tone pot function normally.

that thing would lower the output volume of ur whole guitar. it does clip, but u need a hot enough pickup to make it clip. if u have vintage output pickups, don't even bother. but if u got hot pickups, nice. go for 2 red LEDs if u want the Marshall Crunch. they are said to have edgy but not too harsh clipping than other diodes.
