You keep seeing songs like KoC, SMBH, and Hysteria showing up on games, but I want Micro Cuts on either Rock Band or Sing Star. I want to see numerous masses of kids staring at the tv wondering what the hell they're supposed to do.

1600 - 1750 Baroque kicks arse.
I felt like a monster reincarnation of Horatio Alger......a man on the move and just sick enough to be totally confident.

81-90, then 91-2000 in second place. Metal for the win.

That's basically why I voted 2001-2007

but I also can dig some indie bands too, so definatly 2001-2007 for me.

I don't like the idea of stating a favorite era, but oh well, the 60s.
#11
2001 - Horror Show (Iced Earth)
2001 - God Hates Us All (Slayer)
2002 - Reinventing the Steel (Pantera)
2004 - Through the Ashes of Empires (Machine Head)
2007 - The Blackening (Machine Head)

The new milenium has been awesome.

This is a joke. Classical era is easily the greatest era for music. All metal owes its soul to classical. Besides, nothing beats Mozart who was the greatest musical genius to ever exist, hands down.

You all fail. (excepting SForbz-Rockstar and Zeke5000)

Though the majority of my favourite music comes from more modern eras, I'll say the Classical eras because I want to seem smart and sophisticated.

80s-thrash metal, death metal, black metal (a bit), glam metal, NWOBHM (at the beggining)
#23
1990's, just barely beating the 70's.

Classical era, because an era is longer than a decade

Classical and Baroque invented most of the structure that has evolved into what we listen to today
But the ultimate best time period for music is from 6:00pm til I go to bed cause I rule the house at that time.

Ehh. I don't know.

In terms of influencing the world forever? The 70s. For sure.

But the 90s was kind of a re-birth. The 90s was like the 70s Part II. It had sooooo many of those bands that would live forever, and the scale of creativity was just insane. Music just evolved so much in the 90s.

But, then you have no. The new millenium of music. And, I must say, I am thoroughly impressed.

I know people will say, "But, fallenangel, this decade gave birth to emo, and all sorts of shit music,". And I've got one word for you.

So?

EVERY decade has it's stupid fads. Disco, hair metal, the horrendous pop punk of the 90s. It's going to happen.

But this decade has some of the best metal ever written, the insane uprising of great post rock, post metal, and post hardcore. In my mind, this decade has spawned more creativity than the 90s. It may not live on as well as the 90s, but I honestly think this decade will be on of those sleeper successes.

It'll be like the 60s. There was loads of great music, and especially great music that not many have heard/will ever hear, but it will be looked upon as the decade that spawned the rise of another great decade, again, like the 60s did for the 70s.

I would almost bet on the 2010s being an absolutely insane time for music.

Most of the stuff I listen to started in the late 80s or somewhere in the 90s, so I said that period. I guess the 80s had some really great stuff in terms of metal and whatnot, but it's not stuff that's important to me (although I'm sure a lot of the stuff I listen to was influenced by 80s music ;p)... So yeah 1980-2000. A lot of artists have come out with good albums in the 00-07 time frame, but good new bands are very few.

Well, classical has persisted for hundreds of years up until even now, so it seem like that would be the obvious winner...
