Hey, i have been playing for about 4 years now, i am a pretty accomplished rhythm guitar player(in my opinion) but i think its time i start to learn to solo a bit. i was just wondering if you guys knew any metal/rock/other stuff (just no jazz or clean suff please) solos that would be good for beginners, so i can start learning to solo a bit better. thanks for the help.

"Four Horsemen" by Metallica.

Same song but dont even try the solo in Megadeth's version "Mechanix".

Highway to hell was my first, and its by far the easiest, but try learning Hells Bells, its really famous, and its some-what easy, also watch videos of EVH playing eruption, and try to mimic his tapping. Also Every Rose has its Thorn.

ive actually been looking at the hells bells solo the past couple days too :P granted AC/DC is hard rock, its still cool stuff, my favorite band

but I just gotta get the timing down and listen to the song and try to play along a few dozen times

The "Safe Home" solo from Anthrax, in fact, the whole song is awesome, one of my favorites. The solo uses a few different techniques too that (when learned) will really help your playing.

Aces High by Iron Maiden was my first.

y0u ar3 t3h m4n!!!
That's quite some solo to start off with, and I won't recommend that.

Try Metallica stuff. Mainly recycled pentatonic patterns. Get one down, the others will become easier and easier.
If you can't do that, get a wah pedal and rock it back and forth non stop.
if you still can't do that, turn your gain to 12
otherwise, turn your volume to 0

walk is not an easy solo.

if you find chromatic runs easy... cowboys from hell.

a tout le monde is probably the easiest if you can arpeggiate.
#21
hmm easy solo's...

-Smell's Like Teen Spirit
-The Four Horsemen (dont even try mechanix)
-Nothing Else Matters

A whole hell of a lot of thrash has some easy stuff.

Most Metallica stuff, like the first solo in Welcome Home (Sanitarium), etc.

Nothing else matters(easy) was the first one I learned, then Fade to black (moderate), then ride the lightning (hard), which was a real bitch at first but it reeeaaalllllly helped me in the long run, then master of puppets (harder). That's pretty much how I preogressed with solos technically, And it took me quite a while to get master of puppets especially, like just a month working on that song. Now I just try to play Necrophagist and dragonforce stuff. So yeah, hope this helps.

I learnt the solo from A lot like Vegas by Bring Me The Horizon, fun solo to play and not hard at all, but it sounds good. it's a very short one though.
