Can someone please explain the 12 bar blues to me? I.e i know it's a chord progression heavily used in blues and a lot of other popular music, but i often see it written that hendrix uses the 12 bar blues but he rarely plays a straightforward chord progression. Does this just mean he's soloing from the scale you would use to play over that chord? Any help appreciated.

No to the Does this just mean he's soloing from the scale you would use to play over that chord? no wait, he uses the minor pentatonic on 90% of his work and alot of the time on the 12 bars people mainly use that.

If you look up under the UG lessons, a guy breaks down a 12 bar blues wonderfully, helped me tons.
