hey guyz.
ive been analysing a few songs for theory practice since im new to theory and all.
a few songs ive seen like enter sandman and master of puppets and anry again by megadeth have a riff that they play in the key of E.

then the riff changes and is played to frets up, a whole tone up.
eg enter sandman

D--------5-------------5----
A-----7--------7----7-------
E--0-------6-5---0-------6-5

to

G--------2--------------2------
D-----4--------4-----4--------4
A----------3-2------------3-2--
E--2--------------2------------

is this modulation of some sort? and is there a name for this?

cheers

Its just transposing the riff a tone higher.
Alot of metal riffs are written chromatically, so modulation sometimes dosen't work.
