How do you all personally write your music/songs? Do you jam for awhile and come up with riffs? Do you hear it in your head first? Use a variety of methods?

Variety, some times alone, sometimes with my band. most of the time i just fool around with a scale or chord, and then play a cool riff and build from there

I mess around and let my own style take me where it wants to go. I also analyse what I'm doing and experiment a lot, and I always jot down anything interesting to toy with.

From there, if I have a bit of a base, I just... well, write. I go nuts and do whatever the hell I like, and see what'll happen. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It really depends. I usually just riff around until I have a cool chord progression and then improvise more parts on top of that.

What would you do?

I generally think of a catchy melody, then come up with a lyrical concept to base it around. Then I write the lyrics for the verse, and write harmonies and then a melody over that.

I write a catchy melody and then I use chords, arpeggios, baseline and drumbeats to support it. After all that, I do the hard bit, writing lyrics.

Oh booooooooy.

Each one of my songs was a chapter of my life. Each one started in its own unique way, and I could seriously write a book about how I started and developed each one.

a tune usually just pops into my head and i pick up the guitar and start playing and come up with it from there.
