What are the advantages of hollow and semi hollow bodied guitars? Tone wise and feelwise, etc.
I like my guitars like I like my women, with fat bottoms.
Hollow bodies tend to have a much warmer, fatter sound. They're used a lot for jazz and clean playing. They tend to get muddy when used with distortion. Semi-hollow bodies are a cross between the full hollow and the solid-body. They're very versatile but still tend to feed back at high gain/volume.
Generally, hollow bodies have rather fat necks and fairly limited upper-fret access. Most semi-hollows have more regularly sized necks and a bit better (though still limited) upper fret reach.
