Hello, everyone!

All my friends know how to play a musical instrument of some sort. Some play piano, others play guitar, others are in garage rock bands, etc. My family has a music history behind it. My grandmother teaches professional piano players new skills in an academy back in Ukraine. I was pretty much the odd one out, with no musical abilities whatsoever.

I decided that it is time to learn how to play something. Didn't like piano much since I wouldn't be able to play my favorite music properly with it. I decided to follow one of my friends' footsteps and get an electric guitar.

Here's what I picked up (at GC of course... ):

Guitar: Ibanez RG2EX1 (was... $299, got for $299)
Strings: DR HI-BEAM (handmade) (was... $5.99, got for$4.99)
Amp: Crate GTD15 (was... $69.99, got for $49.99)
Cable: Monster 12' (was... $19.99, got for $19.99)
Tuner: KORG Chromatic Tuner CA-30 (was... $19.99, got for $19.99)
Case: RoadRunner Hardshell (was... $99.99, got for $77.99)
Stand: No brand, but it's good (was... $14.99, got for $9.99)

Pic: http://i12.tinypic.com/67ye9ly.jpg (please don't mind the Unix and Linux and various programming manuals... I only read about 1/3 of them )

Got that for $525 or so out the door, should have haggled down to $500, but yeah

So yeah, I'm being a self-learner for now until I can afford some lessons. I'm going to a university (UCLA) next year, so maybe I'll make some new friends that can teach me some stuff.

I enjoy classic rock, hard rock, metal, techno, electronica, industrial, some punk, trance, and a bunch of other types of music (but those are the main ones I listen to).

So, uh, yeah, that's pretty much it

UCLA is in a nice place. USC is technically ghetto, but USC campus is the safest place in downtown LA.
