Is there a cheap alternative to the marshall plexi? I have heard good things about the Traynor YCV blue. anything around the price range of the blue would be great.($750)

I came up with this kick ass riff on my ukelele when I was 12. Find out two years later, it was smoke on the water. Got my hopes and dreams killed..

a Peavey Windsor maybe? if you lower the gain a bit it'd probably be pretty close

edit: a used Sovtek MIG from the 80s, basically a russian plexi clone, you can get them for around $300 on ebay

(it's only like $15)

Orange makes a great plexi sounding amp, but it can hardly be considered "cheap." Especially in North America. The Traynor's a nearly comparable amp, but costs about half as much.

Well I'm not sure if it's in your price range, but an Orange Rocker 30?

Yeah Orange are veyr Plexi sounding (this coming from a Plexi nerd who today owns a Rocker 30 and it sounds just as my Plexi!)

I have that exact amp
and yes it is loud
but the master volume helps alot
i love every bit of this amp and wouldn't get rid of it for the world
e-mail him he is the nicest guy ever

Another option is an 18 watter.

I tried one yesterday and it sounds great and got some slight break up at 2 (with a Gibson BFG, neck pup, which is a P-90 and hard playing). Ceriatone also makes an 18 watter with master volume!

I heard someone 's sound clips a few weeks ago using the 18w Ceriatone, & it sounded pretty authentic. I wonder if that Nik guy can install an adjustable line out to use it cranked w/ a load box...

A used single channel JCM800 might be worth a look, and Traynor YVC50BLUE are marshally.

*Keep in mind, I dont know as much as a lot of these guys about the marshall-voiced amps*
