i think theres a thread on here for questions about it... but im done with looking for it.
so anywho.

how come when i edit one layer it does the same thing to both layers?

becuase you didnt select one layer specifically, and if not then you only have one layer, but if your using filters it flattens it then add them, you can add a filter to a single layer

i clicked on my one layer. duped it. clicked on the dupe. edit it. click on the first layer. its edited.

Because you still have the duped layer visible. You only edited one layer but to see the one behind it you need to click the eye button thing next to the first edited layer to see what's below it.
