Name your guitar, amp and maybe some mods you did to give it more sustain, etc
..then play a G chord and count how long it sustains.

Mine is a...

Stratocatser
(it has a bigger block than the later mexican models bacues its an 06 one)
and it has about 12 seconds of sustain.

i think thats pretty decent sustain, most likely nothing compared to a les paul but enough to get me by.

This is a bit of a silly thread, isn't it? Won't everyone's mileage vary based on amp type, volume, positioning, etc.?

About 12 seconds, unplugged. I stopped counting when it was as quiet as I could possibly play it normally.

Just a basswood B.C. Rich mockingbird, with 9-46 strings, fixed bridge and low action.

about 26 seconds on a schecter hellraiser using a roland 30x volume at about 2 gain 90% up. playing a open G

Doesn't matter what amp, it has a sustainer, it sustains forever.

I think I win? =P

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

The only true way to do it would be with the guitar not plugged in IMHO and hope peoples hearing/honesty levels are similar.

I get alot of sustain. I've got my Ibanez PGM301 which is a hardtail into my lovely Orange Rocker 30, running through my Ibanez Tubescreamer TS9DX. Gives me alot of sustain when I need it.

12 secs unplugged. Yamaha Pacifica (my first ever guitar) with 10s at Eb.
14 secs on my LP with 11s at standard.

No idea but not the right amount, the one let down with the S470, very thin body and a lot cut out for the trem, it's a shame about that, but when a fernandes sustainer goes there I'll be in sustain city

do heavier strings give you more sustain?

Allegedly, but I've never heard a difference.

Since I play a Jaguar, I get some weak sustain on clean, about 4-6 seconds on a good day.

ouch thats pretty bad, but arent telecasters supposed to have very low sustain and that making them ideal for hybrid pickers? i get about 10 seconds

19 seconds using a sustainer compressor pedal (Gives me a good 4-5 seconds on low) using my Ibanez S470 through a Roland Cube 30 on high gain.

My SZ got 8 seconds unplugged. When I'm playing through an amp it'll go for quite a while. Forever with my big muff.

TONE FOR DAYS!!!!

Fairly long. Depends how loud, too, because when it's loud it slowly modulates into feedback.

My SG isn't as good as Warlock though. String though bolt on vs. set neck tune-o-matic.... String through works better.

Hrm unplugged i get about 11 seconds, my amp gives it about 2 more with distortion, thats with a quietish volume though. I have a mexican stratocaster.

I got 16 seconds out of my epi LP through my (dont laugh) line6 spider3.

I use a Les Paul Copy and a Jackson DK2m through noise suppressor (Boss NS-2) to a wah* to a Ibanez Tube screamer*, then after the noise suppressor, I run a Boss MT-2 metal zone into a Electro Harmonix Holy Grail Reverb into a Clean THD Bivalve. (*=in noise suppressor's effects loop.)

With Distortion, I can get 15-20 seconds of sustain. Clean maybe 7-12 seconds.

If I turn on my equalizer which is in the ns-2 loop, I can increase the sustain, depending on what frequencies i have cut or boosted, around five seconds.
#34
Through a stopwatch, 6 seconds of DECENT sustain. Gain at 5 (max), treble at 3'o clock, mid at 9, bass at 2.

After that it just sounds like someone scraping a butter knife across a cat's ass hole. But 15 seconds of sound total. Just, the first 6 are the only decent bits.

Great list Rutch. On re-reading this one I'd have to say Solid State means not liquid or gas.

I figured it out.
