anyone been to this site before?

http://ejamming.com/

its a nice program that lets you jam with people.... its an easy to use interface, but theres a small sync problem every once in a while... i've met some really good guitarists on there... its a fast and easy download and its not hard to set up

There's also Ninjam for those who don't want to use that program. I may give this program a shot though. Thanks

it is only a beta though so there are some connection issues at points but if you get a good 3 or 4 people working together it can be real fun...... yesterday i was in a room where we just busted out into freebird....i had rhythm, another had slide, someone else had like a lead just playing appregios and him and someone else dueled in the solo haha, it was really fun

Does anyone know drums work on this?
Can I use a mixer on acoustics, and use USB or MIDI output to my computer?

I cant find any good drum info.

if it hooks up to midi, you can use it... i've player with keyboardists before and i've seen drummers in the lobby

What do you need to use it? obviously you need some kind of recording/sound device, but what? a mic?

i go straight from my guitar to computer then you just select the right input under the settings and it works fine.... i use 1/4 to 1/8" converter and go right to the omcputer but i've seen guys mic their amps up or other methods

I do it from the headphone on the amp to the mic on the computer.

its a beta, so is free but i'd imagine it might cost something later.... and i use a thingy to make my 1/4 inch cable (reular electric guitar cable) to a 1/8 inch size so it hooks up to my computer... then when its hooked up to the computer, and im in the program, i just select where i put it into the computer as my default audio input source (http://www.radioshack.com/sm-1-8-stereo-jack-to-1-4-stereo-plug-headphone--pi-2062468.html)

probably another stupid question? but when you say "the mic" you mean the mic PORT, not the actual mic itself because i dont have a mic for my computer.

they used to be all MIDI instrumental based but recently switched to standard audio setups as well.

http://ninjam.com/ is another great one but the sync seems to be messed up quite a bit which can be heard though some of the music samples:

http://autosong.ninjam.com/

to everyone asking how to setup its just like setting up to record and so if you have a look at the Riffs and Recording section you will get lots of help there.

computer mics are not great but they will work.
best way to go is to get a small mixer and feed the output to the mic port on your computer, or better yet...the "Line In" jack. With the small mixer you can feed in MP3 players, CD, Tape, Guitar, Bass, XLR mics..just about anything.
its better to run a mic to your guitar amp or anything like that but if you want to go direct to the board you can go out your amps line out or headphone out jack.

or you can run an outout of some FX pedals like a Yamaha magicstomp to the line in on your mixer.

heres a list of beginner mixers to start with:

Behringer Xenyx 502
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Xenyx-502-Mixer?sku=631262

Behringer Eurorack UB502
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Eurorack-UB502-5Channel-Compact-Mixer?sku=631239

Behringer Xenyx 802
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Xenyx-802?sku=631263

Behringer Xenyx 1002
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Xenyx-1002?sku=631264

After that $70 mark you should stay at or above $100 when getting a mixer for recording. The new and old Yamaha MG series are great. The new series has on board compression but I'm happy with my older style MG 10/2

on the Xenyx mixers your use cables and adapters to go form the two "Main Out" jacks to your computers "Line In".

the Yamaha MG units have a "Rec Out".
