This is to eliminate any threads asking "what song should I learn?". Basically, this is to help those who can't think of anything to play. Post here some suggestions, and whether they are Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, or Expert level. I've got a short list right here, but it was thrown together quite quickly.

DISCLAIMER: I will not separate the list into genres, types of guitars, tunings, amount of animal sacrifices required, etc. The list would be way too chaotic that way. Now, we could list next to the song "Metal, EADGBE", but there's no need to be lazy when we're on a guitar tab website.

UPDATE: This thread is no longer updated! Too much going, though I might try coming back to it in the next few months. The list will still be here, with all its inaccuracies, but it's supposed to be a rough, not definitive, guide. However, you guys seem to have gotten along without updates just fine, just use the thread to find songs you're looking for.

Surfing With the Alien probably isn't the best choice for an expert song. Satch Boogie is much more difficult.

Hanger 18 - Megadeth

I don't know if you guys would consider it expert or intermediate, though. I would say a little of both. What do you guys think?

The solos to : Enter Sandman, Sanitarium, Orion, and Fade to Black would set back alot of beginners.

EDIT: and the solo in Walk

i dont agree with some beginner songs becuase like BumSnack sed some of those solos r nasty, Enter Sandman shuld not b a solo for someone with like 3 months of experience lol... and also Hanger 18 is prolly an expert song cuz its nasty as hell... culd throw in like Free Bird as expert... the fast rythim in run to the hills isnt beginner either
that takes lots of practice

.... it's powerchords, and not even that fast ...........

They're going to have to practice no matter what song it is. It's just I don't feel Run to the Hills should be on the same level as Master of Puppets.

Freebird is all repetition, too. Once you get the first 10 seconds of the solo, you've got it.

The real version of Jordan is an intermediate song. The GH version is only for GH. Therefor I like the jazz version better. =]

You have to add Steve Vai's Tender Surrender and Juice to the Expert catalogue, definitely.

Look at Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover (Intermediate). Also, Joe Satriani's Ten Words, Starry Night, and Love Thing should be at the Intermediate category. Surfing With The Alien is not that hard for Expert. Always With Me Always With You should also be considered for something, it's a good song to start for someone looking into that.

Hangar18 is Intermediate? O0
Maybe the rythem but Dave Mustain and the other guy play there some blowing solos.
The sweeping licks are hard but you can get them down within a day or two of playing them non-stop but the part with the fast picking in the end is juust crazy.

I do not agree with the beginners songs. I would mention "DON'T ATTEMPT SOLOS RIGHT AWAY"... ha ha. Metallica is certainly not beginner in my opinion.

Add Downfall - Children of Bodom as an intermediate. It has a few simple riffs and a nice chorus. Moderate solo too.

Joe Satriani - Always With Me, Always With You can be classified as intermediate too... though I would put Searching as an expert song. The Whammy solo is actually more difficult than it leads to be. :P

For fun add some Dethklok songs like Thunderhorse or the Theme Song as intermediate.

Anything by In Flames is beginner to intermediate.

Pantera - Cowboys From Hell as intermediate to expert I suppose. It has a tricky opening and the solo is fairly hard stretching. Add Floods as expert due to the necessary Pinch Harmonics technique.

Lol.. one last one.. The Final Countdown by Europe... easy song with an awesome solo

Yeah, I think I'll include a warning for the solos. I don't feel that a song should be considered Intermediate because it has 15 seconds of difficulty.

can you do it in a way to perhaps increase the size of the new ones so that we can know which songs are new and which song arent, or maybe add a small list down of the names of the songs that were recently added. Wait, why not just have them not in alphabetical order from now on, just songs that were recently added on bottom. =)

please =)

If we sorted them just by when they were added, it would be way to difficult to find anything. It would be very unorganized. I also feel that there is no need for me to put what the newest songs added are.

There's also a big leap between Beginner and Expert. That's why I made it so long. It takes a long time to go between the two. Though I might split Intermediate into Intermediate and Advanced.

i didnt mean to add them to the bottom without their major categories, i mean something like this.

Intermediate: 6-24 Months

Sonata Arctica - The Cage
Trivium - Dying in Your Arms
Metallica - XXXX
Iron Maiden - XXXX

the only reason i suggest that is , people like myself will keep checking this on day to day basis and i wouldnt want to miss any enw songs.

I dunno, my way could be wrong but is there anyone who can suggest a better way of pointing out the new songs, shrug.

I just don't think there is a good way to do it. If I could think of a way, I would. But I feel that organizing it by artist is more important, so that it's easier for everybody.
