How hard is it to get a Kyuss album? Cause I can't find one anywhere. I've looked at several FYE's, but I don't know if they'd carry them or not. I'd kill for Blues or Sky Valley.

I've looked everywhere and I only found one ( I didn't have any money though) and it was at a local record store.

Ah. Kyuss. The band that got me into stoner/sludge music. I love Sky Valley. And, I could easily find their records here (The Netherlands). Sky Valley, Blues For The Red Sun and The Circus Leaves Town were at the first record store I walked into. (Mind you, it wasn't a mainstream record store, more like a rock/metal store).

good lord i never knew this was a band, i only remember a user on this drug forum having this nickname.

it all makes sense now!

Found all their albums on CD in a music store, about an hour and a half away.

They're still being printed.

I haven't found them in record stores, so I simply bought the albums from Amazon.

Go to small record stores if you have them where you live, you definitely won't find it at a wal mart or best buy.

What are everyone's favorite Kyuss songs? Mine are:
1. 50 Million Year Trip (Downside Up)
2. Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop
3. Green Machine
4. Demon Cleaner
5. I'm Not
Josh Homme writes the greatest lyrics EVAR:
"I wish we could get away
Drink wine and screw"

"Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol
C-C-C-C-Cocaine!"

"I wanna lick you too much"

I know 5 isn't enough. I had to leave off songs like Writhe, Odyssey, and Whitewater.

Apothecaries' Weight is my favorite instrumental as well, though Asteroid is good, too.

Damn, now Im gonna have to go listen to some Kyuss.

So hard to pick a favorite Kyuss song. I really like Phototropic, Asteroid, Molten Universe, Hurricane and Catamaran. No particular order.

2 weeks ago I only had ...and the circus leaves town.
Then I went a bought blues for the red sun, and not more than a week later Welcome to sky vallley and wretch.
I really love thumb, the first track off blues for the red sun. That intro sound thing is amazing.
For those who don't know, that kinda of warm sound at the start is flangered bass feedback.
I wish kyuss had continued after ...and the circus leaves town.
I think by that time they had perfected the art of that, chilled out, slow heaviness.

actually my favourite gotta be ...And The Circus Leaves Town, just because of Catamaran, that song is pure genious, but it's so short! 3:00!!

This, i only have blues for the red sun and my brother has ...And the circus leaves town, i like what i've heard from sky valley, some of the songs like 50 million year trip and supa scoop and the mighty scoop are awesome because they have balls to the wall, dirty riffs followed by a spaced out interlude or something.

Comparing them to QOTSA is hard, i think Queens have some garage rock elements (stooges, kinks, etc), making them more approachable to a casual listener, whereas kyuss is straight, fuzzed out robotic groove, and the repetition of the riffs or Garcias vocals might be hard to take a liking to at first, but in my opinion its in a bracket of its own and is criminally underrated.

I listened to it last night and it does. It has a Chili Peppers structure to it like the interaction between the bass and guitar.

I have a question thats been buggin me for a while. When was Nick Oliveri in Kyuss, because every video I've seen (except for thong song) looks like it has Scott Reeder in it (including Green Machine).
#75
Left after they recorded Blues For The Red Sun, and apparently before they shot the Green Machine vid.

I actually done a presentation on Kyuss when i studied music at college, but i can't remember the specifics of it, going by what dead-fish said, and my own knowledge, Nick was in it from Wretch until Blues for the red sun, before this i believe they had a guy called Chris Cockrell on bass, i think that was during the Sons of Kyuss period, a little piece of trivia, Cockrell played keyboard in The Mars Volta for a short time as well after Kyuss, although this was about a decade later.
