God help me no one has made a thread for this amazing band? This band basically started grunge, influenced everyone from mastodon to tool, and the man himself king buzzo in it and no one has made a thread for them yet . Stoner witch is an amazing album and my favorite songs are revolve, hooch, and a hella lot more

Melvins are the ****. Simple enough.
ESP Standard Eclipse-II
ESP LTD Viper-1000 Deluxe
Ibanez AF85VLS

Revolve, Honey Bucket, Set Me Straight......I wish they did more straightforward songs like these instead of their usual experimental noise, but it just goes to show how kick ass they are that on a dime they can blast out a catchy song like the aforementioned titles.
#6
My favourites are probably
Now a limo
Lizzy
Night Goat
Its shoved
In the freaktose
The Bit
Bar-X-The Rocking M.

No one has made a thread because they are too busy posting in the other threads of the more popular and widely known

- this is not an attack on popular or mainstream bands

See the thing about the melvins is you will never hear them being talked about or on tv/radio but so much bands take them for influence. But yeah I only have stoner witch and houdini and I heard the rest isnt too great is it?

I personally like the maggot, though the tracks are all ****ed up. every song is split into pieces.

It has Amazon, which is my favorite song tho.
#9
My favorite song's June Bug, it's so catchy

and a lot of the stuff they're doing with Jello Biafra kicks ass as well
#10
I just listened to one of the albums they did with Jello Biafra, Sieg Howdy!, It's awesome and obviously very political considering Jello wrote the lyrics.
#11
I'd like to get into them, but I don't know where to start. What's a good Melvin n00b album?
WHY IS EVERYONE IN THE PIT A FUCKING METALCORE KID

Houdini, Bullhead, Stag, 26 songs i would recommend
#16
Houdini or Stoner Witch seem to be a pretty popular starting point.. also make sure you check out Stag, The Maggot, (a) Senile Animal, their collaboration album with lustmord - Pigs of the Roman Empire, Honky and Prick.. damnit just get their entire discography, they are an intensely awesome band. Easily one of the greatest bands ever.
#17
Only got Houdini, but that rocks. Will check out Stoner Witch and some of their newer stuff in 10 minutes.
It's gonna be a blue day
#19
I like them, but I don't really consider them modern rock.

I love you =] I can't say I was very fond of you when we first started talking because you trolled the hell out of my threads, but after talking to you here I've grown very attached to you.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

Yeah but they fit into the whole Grunge thing though don't they? And where else would they go?

they were out before the grunge movement, and sound more like a heavy punk/metal band.

i like Houdini. Electroretard and siege howdy

lol @ greenday becoming the social "norm" for being crap at guitar.

Check out Jello Biafra & The Melvins - Never Breathe What You Can't See. It's bad ass. I've been a DK fan for over 15 years and Jello still owns. Plus, Adam Jones plays with Jello and the Melvins on "Caped Crusader". Too sick.

I read on wikipedia(not exactly a reliable source) that they have a new song and have been playing it at certain concerts. Did any of you hear it?

Nah i haven't heard it but I am sure they will release an album this year or next they release nearly every year.
#30
Oh, that's sad.. I'm going to see them next month at a local venue.. Yay for me!

Still a bit of a Melvins noob, I have Stoner Witch and Houdini, intend to buy more when I'm not poor...and can actually find them in CD stores.

As an aside to Melvins, anyone like Fantomas?
#34
Best. Band. Ever.

Have all of their stuff. Insane.

Gotta be Ozma or Bullhead for favorite album, they all are great listens.
#35
saw them with big business at the great american music hall in sf. one of the best shows i have been to in my life. my fav. song is honey bucket of course, but i like all of their songs. i own bullhead, houdini, stoner witch, 26 songs, electroretard, stag, a senile animal, joe preston, gluey porch treatments, hostile ambient takeover and like a zillion more. They're cool but mostly just strange for the sake of being strange...
One things for sure they are pretty unique
#38
The Fantômas kick as much ass as the Melvins. The songs Page 1 and Page 5 are some of the best off their S/T.

I was supposed to see them Oct. 1st at the Electric Factory but ticketaster lied yet again. The first time it lied was when I was trying to go to an Alice in Chains concert. Oh, what is your opinion on Honky. Personally, I didn't really care for it at first because I heard it when I first got in to them but now, it's definetly one of my favorites.
#39
Fantomas are insane. Don't get me started.

Melvins:

After Houdini and Stoner Witch, I'd go Ozma and then Bullhead. Check Amazon.

the melvins are the heaviest band in the universe and surpass all categories/labels/genres/trends etc. nuff said. word!
