i have my osp dd502 connected to my alesis multimix8 mixer running into my computer to record. the computer picks up the sound, and in using 3 different programs, when i record the drums, they sound very echo-y and sounds like its in a concert hall or something. to make sure its not the mixer or anything, i tried recording my vocals in a mic and they sounded just fine. can anybody tell me what they think the problem is?

The electronic drums, obviously. Turn off the reverb effect.

do you think midi out would give a different result? what exactly IS midi out?

Send trigger data. Not audio. You'd need to hook it up to an external sampler.
