jazz is more about the playing than anything. what you have in there right now should be good enough, just roll the down the volume. keep your money for a nicer amp in the future.

FWIW, I would generally agree with this.

But if you're really set on a new pickup, check out a Gibson '57 Classic. Good for what you mentioned and right in your price range.
