i heard reason works really great, i have line 6 tone port UX1, but it comes with a demo version of ableton live and i cant save, export or burn anything and the whole version close to 500 so i'd say give a reason a shot man

The new TonePort GX looks promising. Runs for $69USD typically.

It doesn't have quite as many features as the other models, but it will record guitar just as well.

Audicity is free, or you can be a pirate and download a torrent of a nicer program. Go to musiciansfriend and look at the programs and decide what's best for you

reason wont work at all. it is strictly a midi sequencer.

lolol reason. I remember when I first started using it I got so pissed cause I couldn't figure out how to record sounds.
