It can but it's more about the amp you're using.

are the pickups any good?

No.

is the bridge good enough?

It's a TOM - easy to adjust and easy to restring. I doubt you'd get much better for 200 quid.

is this good value for the money?

It's ok. A Pacifica 112 (think they come with coil taps now) or that RG would be better value.

I would stay away from anything less than a nonstudio custom from epiphone. I would get the RG out of those 2 but see if you can try them out at a guitar shop and see. (Not too easy for us Brits - curse the Yanks and their Guitar Centers...)
