I have Hyperhidrosis , I would sweat for no reason, even when its really cold and im in my room not doing anything. So anyways I'm really unsecured about excessive sweats getting on the guitar neck or strings. Usually what I do is put on non latex gloves on my left hand, the gloves you see nurses or doctor use. Anyway just recently a friend of mine told me that rubber gloves can mess up the guitar neck when the material of the gloves rubs on the neck finish. Is it true? What do you guys suggest?

Hmm it wont hurt the guitar or the strings, if you remember to wipe the moisture off when your'e done....strings might get dead quick though....

buy an antiperspirant stick for ur hands.

rubber gloves will stick to the back of the guitar, leave dark marks on some finishes and wear marks on others.

it will also change the way u play, and probably rip when fretting, becoming usless.

wipe anti persspirant with zinc on ur hands. keep a small stick just for ur hands.

the stuff that docs precribe has the same ingredient.

if you put baby powder on ur hands it would stop the sweat a bit ( seriously )

it's messier and doesnt work as long as the zinc.

some guys sweat alot. they have prescription medicine that can help.

i suggest, if u cant find anything at ur local store that works, that u go see a dermatologist and have them write u a script.

and no problem ducky, we actually get this question in guitar section all the time. ^

You could also try coated strings. I know a few people that swear by DR Strings. I use them myself, but I don't have very corrosive fingers, thankfully. I just like the feel and sound.

The worst part is that there is no cure for it, I heard theres a surgery that stops the sweats gland and of course theres also botox injection. The botox would stop excessive sweat for about 6-9 months i think but its about $900 just for palm injections which is a bit too much. I think ill stick to the stick lol

It could be your trademark. When you are at live shows, you are putting SO MUCH PASSION AND SOUL INTO IT... that your hands are simply sweating like a beast.
