I want to make some improvements to my strat copy and want to put in a humbucker in the bridge. I'm thinking of an EMG pickup but I'm not sure either to go for the 81 or the 85. I'm not that good at leads and I mostly play rhythm. If anyone has any other suggestions for a bridge humbucker, please tell me. I'm also planning on buying a Tom Delonge scratchplate for £15 (about $30), and has only one hole for a volume pot. I'll probably need to buy a new pot and a input jack if I won't be going for the EMG. Anyway, what do you think I should do?

EMG are (generally) for really high gain stuff- is that what you play?
What amp do you have? (i can see your rig list in sig but are you keeping that Laney for long or going back to the MG?)

For the best tingle, use Original Source mint. That shit feels amazing on your balls.

I'm not sure for how long the Laney is with me, coz the guy who owns it had just bought a Line 6 Flextone and has a Fender Super Reverb, so I have no idea. I usually play rock and metal stuff.

I don't think an EMG is the answer, not in a strat anyway. Besides, you can't just stick one active in, not without a load of hassle anyway. I'd recommend a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom or, seeing as you're in the UK s Swineshead Warthog, maybe even an X-Bucker.

And stop bumping...it's incredibly n00bish and gets you into trouble

oops!

I'll check those out then, since they'll probably cost less than the EMG. Anyone else got any suggestions?
