i was considering putting this in the Bandleading forum, but its not a question about band management.

i'm in a local band.. pretty accomplished, we have a smalltime record deal.

and its pretty well financed.. and ive always wondered if we over do it live..

we have a full lightrig with some 2dozen lights (i believe) a massive 32 track PA that feeds into 4 JBL towers (these things are massive) 2 subs, and 2 mains. the other guitarist and I play through 2 Marshall halfstacks, 1 JCM200 and a mode 4 (yummy)

is that kinda overdoing it? we still pretty much play locally...

well i assume your good, so nah. as long as you have good stage shows.......

but try to get bigger venues. it will make you feel better about using all that stuff.

I don't think you can really over do it, unless your spending ALL your money on this stuff, I guess its somewhat unnessesary in that sense. But whatever, makes a good show.

No way, if all that stuff makes the show even the smallest bit better I'd say its not overdoing it at all.

As long as the additional equipment improves the experience for the audience, it is right to use it.

If you guys have all the stuff anyways, it would be a shame not to use it

PICS!!!

How many peeps do you regularly play for?

Average of 5 to 6. Their rich parents

Seriously though, the lights and stuff don't make up for bad music. Yes we all "play godlike music" when we're talking over the internet, but in reality most aren't even above average.

I don't know what all that stuff is but your music sounds decent, the only thing I don't like are the drums, they sound bad and sound EXACTLY the same in all the songs.
