I am new to electric guitars as a whole and I am planning on buying my first one. My price limit I am setting myself for the first one is around $300 and I only want to buy one from a local store if it is possible. My local stores only carry Fender, Squire, ESP, and Ibanez. No Epiphone unfortunately Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

you're going to get MUCH better deals online, anyways, what music are you interested in playing?

Well I wouldn't mind buying one online but if I did it would be one that I had tried beforehand. Even though I haven't ever played before I don't like to buy stuff online without knowing what it is really like before. And I would like to play classic rock and maybe some alternative rock. Although im not too too worried about the tone of the guitar as long as it has a good sound.

your best bet would be a squier starter pack, they aren't great but they are fine for starting out and you get everything you need for around $300 or less (guitar, amp, tuner, cable, picks, sometimes spare strings) if you get one really cheap you can buy a cheap multi fx pedal (a line9 POD or a behringer X V-amp) to make it more interesting. at this stage a good tone isn't your biggest worry.
The Ibanez starter kits aren't bad either
