Have you ever been listening to music in the backgound, and noticed after a while "****, that screams still going wtf mate". Well this just happened to me, so I feel the need to tell you guys, and have you guys possibly share your experiences.

In the song "Next Life" by In This Moment, a scream is sustained from 3:31 to 3:52. 21 seconds WTF and it's a hot chick who is screaming, thats cool too.

anyways, share your experiences guys

Quo Vadis - Silence Calls the storm
has a sick scream in it, about 30 secs I think
Also Graveworm - Bloodwork has a long ****ing scream!
...And the worms ate into his brain.

Check out how long he holds his screams.

the only real example I've heard is Devoured By Vermin, and that was only around 10 seconds

Quo Vadis - Silence Calls The Storm is probably what you're talking about.... On The Shores doesn't have any long growl/scream o_O

yeah but he does it in a death growl, takes a lot more breath to expend.

The longest in a song I've heard was in The Grudge by Tool. It was like, 43 seconds or something I think? Prolly. Maynards a nuts vocalist.

Longest I've heard was in the Linkin Park song Given Up. 15 seconds.

Yeah, I'd say the longest I've heard is Silence Calls the Storm by Quo Vadis. I was like "cool", and then when I thought he was going to stop he kept going for another phrase, "oh, very cool"

I don't listen to much screamy music, Bruce Dickenson is really the only guy I know.
The scream after the intro to Number of the Beast is pretty long.

I'm pretty sure Maynard has been blessed with the gift of circular breathing. Which means, for those of you keeping track at home, he wins.

Damn, I thought that the scream in the end of Black Rose Immortal by Opeth was long, but it's like 17 seconds.

That said, Hallowed be thy Name and Maynard James Keenan are pretty intense.

I always thought you were born with it, but the wiki article says that people who play wind instruments train it for sustained tones. Either way Maynard has mastered the art.

Been mentioned, Bruce Dickinson's scream in Hallowed Be Thy Name live on Rock In Rio was pretty long. Another one is Jens Kidman, lead singer of Meshuggah. On the one-track EP "I", the scream he does after the intro part is pretty long (assuming it is one scream, kinda hard to tell).

EDIT: Just checked the Meshuggah one, 1:33 to 1:54, only 21 seconds.

This saxophone guy, Kenny G, held a note for 45 minutes.
I dont like his music at all, but its pretty impressive.

I always thought "Jawbreaker" by Judas Priest had a long scream at the end of it, but there seems to be alot longer.

Apparently not the longest, but Axl Rose's "Toniiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeiiiiiieeeeeeiiiiiiiittt" from the end of "Don't Cry".

I think it was 25 or so seconds. The first time I heard it I believe I shat myself.

they say at live shows he holds it for 50 seconds

it's not particularly long, but after the bridge on Killswitch Engage's "Rose of Sharyn", there's this amazing scream that lasts until like halfway into the chorus. It's so amazing, and the way it works with the melody and lyrics just gives me goosebumps
