the modulation and delay effects are fine, but the distortion at anything more than private practice levels are horrible. i use one in my bedroom, but not for gigging...

I totally disagree, i think the Dist/OD are great on the ME-50 although this depends on what amp you have. Digital modelers like the Cubes, Spiders, AD's etc. do not take to well to pedals, also i don't like the ME-50 with tube amps but for any solid state amp it is great, served me well for years. You can get a good model of mosty any tone from it, the effects are great for messing around with although some of them are rather weak. All in all though i think the ME-50 is great
