Hi,

My friend wants to get his guitar setup, and he would like to no how much it should cost roughly just in case some one tries to rip him off.

Please don't say just do it yourself because i have told him that and he wants to get it done professionally.

He means, re-strung, check the bridge, antonation, tuned properly..etc etc. I would say call your local shop

depends on the guitar. floyd rose, floating bridge, or fixed? acoustic or electric? what do you want set up, just the action, or the truss as well?

Most of the stores ive been to do a full package for like 40 bucks. Including cleaning and polishing.

yea, $40's about an average, but it depends on the guitar and what's needed too. i wouldn't spend more than $50. any less than $20 and something weird's going on.

My local store charges $40 bucks, but I'm sure it's different in the UK.

The guitar has a fixed bridge and is electric. When i say setup i mean the action, truss rod, etc. Pretty much everything.

I recently had a new pickup fitted, new gauge strings put on which meant trus rod adjustment etc and also the fretboard cleaned for £35 by my local shop.

That's cheap man, for the work that you've had done.

Fitting pickups is easy though, if you can solder I'd recommend you do it yourself
