Yah I'm 12 years old and I play a fender strat from the beginner pack(been playin for 6 months or so), and i think it was a pretty good starting guitar, but I really want something newer and a little better. I'm startin to sell it to my friend for 100 and I was wondering if anyone knows what a good intermediate guitar. I'm lookin for somethin anywhere under 700-750. Thanks

first 2 on that page (whichever style you prefer) they are low end PRS guitars, but PRS are nothing but good quality anyway.

if you want a more metal looking guitar then check out Ibanez, ESP, Jackson

EDIT: that ibanez is quite good and has a decent floyd rose however just be aware that floyd rose are awkward to restring and tune. if you don't think you'll use it much you'd be better with a fixed bridge, s series doesnt come with a fixed bridge so check out the sz series. however if you want a FR then that's a good choice

+1 on the PRS guitars, I have a cheap one myself but still love it's sound.

I think you just might regret getting a "metal" guitar like the Ibanez S520EX. I mean i know its your choice but its your second guitar so you probably don't know much to nothing about guitars and from your genres i wouldn't choose the ibanez. It may seem cool with the floyd and **** but look around for awhile and try guitars out, you don't want to end up with something you wouldn't want.

Wow 700-750 US? You've only been playing half a year and you've got alot of money to spend. x]

Maybe a mid/higher end epi or an ibanez.

I'd say maybe wait to get a new one. When i started to play guitar 6 months after i started i bout a MIM Strat and now i hate it because my favorite music changed and i didnt really know too much bout guitars at the time. plus that way you can save up for an even sweeter one. =]

+1 on the PRS, finally had the chance to play one a few weeks back and it was badass. However! I'd also recommed a Fender Showmaster to you over the PRS, I really like that guitar, it's awesome, plus it still has a floating bridge, not as good as a floyd, but it also shouldn't be as hard to use and you can still get the strings to go limp on the fretboard.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
