It was coming dawn when I asked of the fatalities
Few at all and none of name or rank
I watched the gorse burn and nothing changed
I lost my heart (I no longer write)

Such a way over the flat plains
I followed with intent
Winding up at the start

Everything ever glimpsed by us
Going the way of everything else
Shreds of honour cling to their title
Standing frozen with the tv glare
Our friends awash in the static

Nobody will know these troubles now
For my wheels they are both buckled
I layed awhile inside hedgerow
Faced down it was such a wait
The storms they won't pass me
'Cos nobodies ever above repentance

And I lost my will to feel
There's nowhere else to go alone
And I swear I sold my soul
For so much more

But shes tugging on my heartstrings

'Cos i lost my will to feel
But theres still dark roads to go alone
And If i'd ever professed to love
Then I'd have lied

But shes tugging on my heartstrings
But shes tugging on my heartstrings

It was coming dawn when I asked of the fatalities
Few at all and none of name or rank
I watched the fields burn and had nothing changed?
I lost my heart and I no longer write

Did you take the time out of your life to comment on anyone else's lyrics?
There is poetry in despair.
