I was just wondering how custom designs are added to pickguards and if it would be easy to make my own and how much money it might save me. (seeing as pickguards range from $20-$40)

Well, yeah but those will probably be expensive as hell. I want to make my own.

yea you can get tons of custom pickguards, just look around at some of the guitars people use, for example i know kurt from metallica uses a guitar that has a pickguard that has a skull and stuff on it.

But check out these sites for custom pickguards

I was talking about MAKING my own. Not designing my own. I mean actually getting the materials and cutting the frame and then finding a way to put my design on it.

some people just don't listen it would be pretty simple to make one. I would make it out of chrome plated steel. That would look sweet. and yeah, just go to a scrap yard, and pick up some metal. If you have any machines, you could easily cut it, and then send it in top get plated.
