i watched a video of buckethead doing his song jordan, and i noticed the entire time, he never plucked any strings at all, instead he tapped a button on his guitar. does anyone know what this is or how it works? also i watched van halen's you really got me. and near the end of the solo, he used a switch thing on his guitar to make a sound kinda like a bouncing ball. so i'm just curious as to what these are, so if you know anything please tell me. i found both these videos on youtube if ya wanna check em out. thanks

It's a killswitch. Like the name says, it cuts the sound. On Jordan, Buckethead just frets the notes with his left hand and fiddles with the switch. Go to the Gear Building & Customizing forum, there's an ultimate killswitch thread in there with all the info you need.

yeah what that is, is that its a kill switch, so everytime he pushes the button the guitar turns on than off, giving it almost like a echoing sound, but its pretty amazing how he can keep the beat on that button the whole time, cause that is a hard ass song to play
